Essential Morning Anchors for Wellness

I was once asked “What is something you’ve mastered in regards to time management?” My answer was my morning routine. I have five key intentional anchors that have become my morning soul-care routine.

Hydration is the first one. Your body is 60 to 70% water. Starting with 8 ounces of water is a must for me. I keep a full glass of water right beside my bed so as soon as my feet hit the ground, I’m ready to drink that first 8 ounces.

Next, 20 minutes of yoga and stretching or engaging in some form of physical activity. Waking the body up, lubricating the joints and centering myself sets the tone for the morning.

Third, mindfulness. Practicing Meditation, focusing also on spiritual growth or reading something inspiring.

The fourth anchor is setting intentions and goals for the day. Listing 2 to 3 things that are most important for my day helps me stay organized. This could be anything from an errand that specifically needs done that day, a call, or a task. Not including too many things, being realistic is key.

Lastly, making a nourishing breakfast of nutritionally dense food including protein and color. Goal is to eat the rainbow every chance I can to increase fiber and energy.

It took some time to develop my morning anchors. The things that set me up for a successful day took some trial and error. It’s best to make small changes overtime that you can be consistent with until you find your own sweet spot and your own rhythm for your morning ritual.

I can help you discover what your anchors are, and help you create an intentional morning that is grounding for your mind, body and soul.
